Version 1.1 Changes


I've made a few minor changes to the game in version 1.1 after further playtesting & feedbck.

  1. The first time you Encounter Magic, it's always a Wealdstone. I found that playing a character without having gained a power from a Wealdstone would be boring, and this entire game's design is based around cutting out the boring part of games. Note that just because you encounter a Wealdstone, doesn't mean you have to touch it! If you choose not to touch it, you can move on unchanged.
  2. Added a new optional rule for Encounters: If you roll a one twice in a row, roll on the new "Mundane Encounters" table.
  3. Added "Mundane Encounters" table. This includes non-magical stuff that can happen in the worl, like a stranger asking for help, natural obstacles, or someone asking to join you in your travels.
  4. Added "Situations" table. This includes a "who?" list and a "what?" list, for results like "A battered band of soldiers has gone missing,", or "An old friend contracts you to help with an outside threat." This table can be called by the Mundane Encounters table or used standalone to generate a story hook.
  5. Added an "Ancient Places" table. This includes a list of places you can explore via Encounters. Most have rewards if you complete them.
